How to Build a Freedom Business

My One Person Business Model

How’s it going my friend,

Hope you’re well.

I want to ask you an important question;

What does the word “freedom” mean to you?

Have you ever really sat down and thought about that?

If you know exactly what it is, reply to this email, share your thoughts, I’d love to hear it.

For now, let me tell you how I think about it..

When I started my “creator” business I was faced with a ton of uncertainty.

  • So many options on what my offer could be

  • So many markets I could potentially serve

  • So many things I could do to make money

It can all get a bit overwhelming to be honest.

So one particular day, I was sat thinking about my business and my goals..

..And I asked myself;

“What is the real goal?— What do I really want out of this?”

And the answer was simple..

I want freedom.

  1. The freedom to do what I want with my time

  2. The freedom to spend my energy on what I like

  3. The freedom to work with who I want to work with

Yes the goal of business is to make money— but why do YOU want money?

If your goal is to be free and happy.

BUT if your business makes you less free and happy..

Are you really winning?

Freedom in business isn’t about working harder.

It’s about building a system that works for you.

A system that:

  1. Attracts the right leads

  2. Nurtures them with value

  3. Converts them into clients

In order to do that, you need to build leverage.

Here’s exactly how you can do that..

In order to make money as a creator, you need a well-constructed "Profit Flywheel™."

A Profit Flywheel™ is a simple journey that your online audience goes through, increasing the chance that they become a customer with each step.

A great Profit Flywheel begins with getting discovered

In order to build a successful flywheel, you must first get discovered.

If nobody finds your thoughts or ideas, none of the other parts matter. Learning to stand out online is part of modern marketing.

The easiest way to get discovered is to create value where people are already consuming.

There are four type of content that generally "add value" and therefore have positive results:

1. This person teaches me
2. This person entertains me
3. This person makes me think
4. This person understands me

For this step I use my Content Flywheel™:

  1. Use the Authority Brand™ system to nail positioning

  2. Create short-form content world build and to test ideas

  3. Create high value lead magnet to turn readers into leads

  4. Use Magnetic Writing™ to write long form conversion content

  5. Repurpose best long form content into short form and build authority

After being discovered, building trust is critical

Once you've been discovered, it's important that you move your audience from thinking, "this person is familiar" to "this person is someone I trust".

When I use the word, "trust", I mean they trust in your expertise. They trust that you know what you're doing in your field of choice.

To deepen that trust, use longer-form content to show your expertise:

  • Newsletter

  • How-to guides

  • Step-by-step videos

For my profit flywheel, I move people from short form to my weekly newsletter— my Value Community™.

I have only 2 goals with this:

  1. Show people how I think at a deeper level (trust)

  2. De-platform my closest followers to my email list and off of social media.

Remember - it's critical to "own" your audience (email list) vs. "rent" your audience (social media).

Deep relationships take trust to the next level

Once trust is built, you can begin establishing true relationships.

True relationships are about access. A "behind-the-scenes" glimpse at how someone thinks, acts, works, etc.

It's much easier to invite someone into this phase of the funnel once they fully trust your expertise and knowledge.

They join to deepen their relationship with me and our other motivated members, all focused on the same goal: growing their business.

Relationships are much easier to monetize

Think about the journey someone takes to join a community. They:

  • Discover you

  • Build trust through high-quality content

  • Invest in a long-term relationship through community

Once someone has come this far, they are highly likely to want more of what you create. This is where monetization is easiest.

Not only are these your closest followers, but they are also a captive audience. You can reach out directly via your community.

  • No algorithm to beat.

  • No open rates to worry about.

  • No competition.

Just an audience of likely buyers.

This is where you can get creative.

Congratulations! You're ready to build your own Profit Flywheel™
